Among the many benefits of acupuncture is an increase in the overall health and vitality of the body. This includes the health vibrancy of the skin and it includes the youthfulness and brilliance of the face. With an awareness of the Chinese tradition of admiring beauty and longevity I have always been a bit skeptical about using this healing modality to foster an attachment to our physical attributes and our material existence. I have been more interested in cultivating an acceptance of our impermanence and the inevitability of our aging while balancing pleasure and joy in life with responsibility and temperance. Nevertheless, it is obvious to me after over a decade with Chinese medicine, that the face represents a doorway to the whole body and expresses fundamentally the brilliance of the spirit. I have discovered that by treating the face we can treat the whole body and I have also discovered that by treating the whole body we can enhance the luster and beauty of the face. As more and more patients have expressed in interest in this I have chosen to work towards addressing their concern.
